I've always thought that Japan has the best quality controls. That's why I am always willing to pay more money for "Made in Japan" products. China is well known for bad quality. I would not be surprised if this incident happens in China. But, I am very surprised that this happens in Japan. Well, I guess we are all human beings. There are bad people anywhere in the world!! :( "Made in Japan" products are not always good. :(


"Shiroi Koibito" (白の戀人) (White Beloved Ones) chocolate cookies, which is one of Hokkaido's best known local souvenirs, are being recalled by Ishiya Co. (石屋製果公司). Ishiya repackaged 4,328 boxes (56 chocolate cookies) produced in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the sale of its Shiroi Koibito (white lover) chocolates after they were returned by retailers, and shipped them again after extending their expiry dates by one month.

The company allegedly committed the acts at the instruction of a board member who was responsible for its manufacturing process. "We shouldn't have done it as a company. We deeply regret the incident," Ishiya President Isao Ishimizu told a news conference. The misconduct came to light in late June after a whistleblower believed to be an employee sent an e-mail to the firm's homepage revealing the scandal.

Ishiya also said Tuesday that staphylococcus aureus bacteria had been discovered in some of its Baumkuchen layered cake products. In addition, it said coliform bacteria had been found in some popsicles. Those bacteria could cause food poisoning.

The company is recalling all Baumkuchen products because it could not confirm whether they were all safe to eat.

Fake Blood Protein

I wouldn't want to stay in any hospitals in China!!
Hosptials in China might have good doctors, but the medicine is definitely not reliable.

Good doctor + fake medicine = dead person

Chinese authorities are investigating the widespread sale of fake blood protein (albumin) to hospitals and pharmacies, a practice that threatens the lives of patients. Albumin is a primary protein in human plasma that is important in maintaining blood volume. It is used to treat a number of conditions including shock, burns, liver failure and pancreatitis, and is used in patients undergoing open heart surgery. The fake albumin has no element of protein, so it cannot perform its intended function.

Arsenic dried squid

Hong Kong 消委會 investigated 23 different brand of smoked dried seafood. They found that 9 brand of dried squid have contained arsenic (俗稱砒霜的重金屬「砷」) more than the maximum permissible concentration (MPC). Eating too much arsenic will cause skin and liver damage.

據聯合國和世衛會建議的暫定每周可容忍攝入量標準，一名體重六十公斤的成年人，每周不應攝入多於零點九毫克的無機砷。以含砒霜量最多的樣本計算，每周進食三包已可能超出建議的每周可容忍攝入量﹔較大包裝的美珍香風琴魷魚絲，則每周食用少於兩包已超該標準。

This high level of arsenic is most likely caused by squids living in poluted water.

消委會 also found that dried pork and dried beef have a high level of preservatives (苯甲酸、山梨酸). Eating too much will damage health too!

Dangerous vegetables from China!!

The latest deadly food from China is vegetables!! 農藥蔬菜!!

綠色和平警告，食用過量農藥可引起急性中毒，病徵包括昏迷、嘔吐及暈眩，嚴重可引致死亡。有研究顯示，同時食用含三種農藥蔬果可令農藥影響激增一百倍。長期食用含農藥蔬菜可導致癌症等慢性疾病，周婉蘋稱，是次在番茄樣本驗出的林丹可能引致乳癌。含農藥蔬菜亦影響內分泌，令生殖系統出現問題，減少精子數量，嚴重可引致不育。此外，部分農藥可由孕婦母體傳給胎兒，影響胎兒發育。

What's wrong with the Business people in China? Don't they have respect for life? It seems to me that they only care about money, money, and more money. They don't care whether the food will kill people or not... It's like Chineses killing Chineses.... :'(

As a Chinese, I really feel sad and angry...

China already has a long history of deadly food prior to the dangerous farm chemical vegetables:
- purple dye yam
- fake eggs
- fake power milk for babies
- thousand year moon cake (moon cake made with old lotus paste)
- soy sauce made with hair
- snacks that use oil from sewage
- 孔雀石綠淡水魚
- 冒牌午餐肉罐頭
- etc.

The list is soooooo long that I don't remember all....

When can we see an end to this?? :(
