What is Word Cloud?
It's basically a visual representation of words and their frequencies.  The more a particular word appears within a context, the bigger the word is.

I wanted to see what kind of words appear in my blog most often.
So, I looked around for a free online word cloud generator and found 2 that I think are the best:

1. Wordle
2. Word It Out

(I didn't spend a lot of time on my search so there could be other better ones.)

When I enter my blog address to generate word cloud, both site give me different results. 
According to Wordle, the most frequent words are teaspoon, onion, recipe, etc.
According to Word It Out, the most frequent words are went, like, lake, teaspoon, etc.
I wonder how each site look for words.
Anyway, I think Word It Out is closer to what I think is the word frequencies in my blog.
However, Wordle has a nicer graphical representation of words.

Michelangelo's Pizzas

Some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) dedicated fans prepared Michelangelo’s favorite pizza recipes.

The whole conversation is "打打打打打打打打打打打打".... hahaha.... :D

Supermarket Scrabble

There is a facebook group called "Supermarket Scrabble", which encourages people to "make trips to the shops more fun, try arranging things on the shelves to make new, amusing and even rude words, images or sculptures."

In UK, this game has drove store staffs mad as they have to hurriedly re-arrange the letters to remove the rude words.

However, people could focus more on other words that are not rude.
Spelling city names or actor names is fun too...  ;)

清明上河圖

清明上河圖是中國十大名畫之一...屬一級國寶... 是北宋張擇端的作品... 描繪了北宋故都汴京的景色...
張擇端成功地描繪出汴京城內及近郊在清明時節社會上各階層的生活景象。

English name for 清明上河圖 is "Along the River during Ching-ming festival".
Now a day... People use different technologies to convert this painting into animation...

China animated the painting and showed it in Shanghai World Expo.


Taiwan also did something similar on their website:

Some people would argue that animation is not as good and beautiful as the original painting.  But who cares....
I am not an artistic person.  I won't spend lots of time studying a painting.  
Personally, I like the Taiwanese animated version.  It's cute.  It keeps me interested.

I guess this is the problem with modern age.  Everyone wants everything fast... moving... and exciting....  ;)

MONOPOLY City Streets (Part 2)

I have been busy with moving into the new condo. I didn't have time to check the MONOPOLY City Streets. When I check today, all the streets that I want to buy in Toronto and Hong Kong have been purchased by someone else... woo woo woo.... :(

A live worldwide game of MONOPOLY using Google Maps as the game board will be launching tomorrow (Sept 9).

The goal is simple. Play to beat your friends and the world to become the richest property magnate in existence. Own any street in the world. Build humble houses, crazy castles and stupendous skyscrapers to collect rent. Use MONOPOLY Chance Cards to sabotage your mates by building Hazards on their streets.

I think it's going to be fun! Hopefully it's not going to be difficult to play.

A bear with taste

A bear broke into a San Bernardino County home and gobbled up a box of chocolates from a couple's refrigerator. The couple arrived home Saturday afternoon, found the bear chowing down in their kitchen and phoned for help. The bear fled before sheriff's deputies arrived. Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Alsky says the animal appeared to have pushed aside vegetables in the couple's fridge and gone straight for the two-pound (kilo) box of sweets. He says the bear also tried to open a bottle of champagne but was not successful.

This bear definitely have good taste... chocolates and champagne!! ;)
It's smarter than Winnie the Poor who only eats honey. :P

World's smallest microwave

When lining up for a microwave at work, don't you ever wish to have your own microwave?

Heinz is working on a USB beans microwave. This device, called the Beanzawave, is 7.4 inches tall by 6.2 inches wide and 5.9 inches deep. There is also an option of powering it with lithium ion batteries that would make it completely portable.

It is still in the prototyping stage. However, if Heinz decides to release it, it will be pretty expensive... around £100 (approx. Cdn $189).


This device is designed for beans, but the idea is very good. I hope someone will design a USB microwave that is big enough for a lunch box and cheap enough to be under Cdn $50. ;)

為什麼叫「老公」、「老婆」？

您們知道丈夫何以叫「老公」、妻子何以稱「老婆」？

據說源於唐代的一段故事。

唐代有一個名士，名叫麥愛新，他看到自己的妻子年老色衰，便產生了嫌棄老妻，再納新歡的想法，並寫了一副上聯放在案頭：


＊＊「荷敗蓮殘，落葉歸根成老藕。」＊＊


被他的妻子看到了，妻子從對聯中看到了丈夫棄老納新的念頭，於是便提筆續了一副下聯：


＊＊「禾黃稻熟，吹糠見米現新糧。」＊＊


以「禾稻」對「荷蓮」，以「新糧」對「老藕」，不僅對得十分工整貼切，新穎通俗，而且，「新糧」與「新娘」諧音，饒有風趣。


麥愛新讀了妻子的下聯，被妻子的才思敏捷和拳拳愛心所打動，便放棄了棄舊納新的念頭。


妻子見丈夫回心轉意，不忘舊情，乃揮筆寫道：

＊＊「老公十分公道。」＊＊


麥愛新也揮筆寫了下聯：

＊＊「老婆一片婆心。」＊＊


這個帶有教育意義的故事很快被流傳開來，世代傳為佳話。

從此便有了「老公」和「老婆」這兩個名詞。

根據佛教梵典《僧只律》書中的記載，一「剎那」為一「念」；二十「念」為一「瞬」；二十「瞬」為一「彈指」；二十「彈指」為一「羅預」；二十「羅預」為一「須臾」；而一日一夜則有三十「須臾」。於是乎，就產生了以下算式：

　　一晝夜＝30須臾＝600羅預＝12,000彈指＝240,000瞬間＝4,800,000剎那

而因為一晝夜共有86,400秒，若將每個單位以秒數表示，便可得出：

一「須臾」＝2,880秒；
一「彈指」＝7.2秒；
一「瞬間」＝0.36秒；
一「剎那」和一「念」之間＝0.018秒
